History & Formation 

The Checkpoint One Foundation was created by Jason Faler, a combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, with the assistance of Scott McGraw, Legal Counsel to the Foundation. 

Mr. Faler, who served as a Liaison, Advisor and Trainer with the US Army at the Iraqi Ministry of Defense in 2005, witnessed firsthand both the tremendous value of the tenacious Iraqis who serve both their nation and the US Armed Forces, as well as the dire risk faced by these courageous individuals on a daily basis.  Indeed, many Iraqi and Afghan interpreters have paid the ultimate price for their bravery.  Homes, property and lives have and continue to be lost at the hands of the insurgents and terrorists who utilize intimidation and fear as their weapon of choice.

These interpreters have, in many cases, saved the very lives of  American soldiers and have never cowed in the face of threat and intimidation.  We believe that they have earned the right to safety and security as a result.
